Shake Can Vigorously (Pop-up demo/exhibit)
April 7th features local graffiti artists creating large scale artworks in real time. Stop by to see the artists in action. We’re excited to partner with 9 Pillars Hip Hop Cultural Fest to host this one-night-only experience. We’re looking forward to celebrating hip hop by spotlighting some great graffiti artists in Charlottesville.
This pop-up demo will allow attendees to interact with the artists and observe how the art–that will ultimately go up on the gallery’s walls–is created. The culmination of works will be exhibited during the Hiphop Cultural Fest, the week of April 17, and can also be viewed on April 23 when The Bridge hosts the Verbs & Vibes Open Mic.
Two featured artists who will be participating in the Pop-up are Charlottesville High School senior, Louis Ackerman, and Staunton-area artist and designer, Cody Brogan. Brogan, a tattoo artist who has long been into both street and fine art, has done several murals in Waynesboro and has worked on the reveal at IX Art Park. Ackerman, born and raised in Charlottesville, was recently accepted into VCU Arts, where he will be attending in the fall and says he is “most often seen biking or painting around town, pushing around colors and shapes”.
