CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — A local sculptor is showcasing the faces of locals and visitors in his new sculpture gallery at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative.

It’s all part of Edward Miller’s People’s Portrait Project, which celebrates the individuality of people in the community.

The sculptures were made during Miller’s sculpture workshop on the Downtown Mall in April, where he invited people to let him make a clay sculptures of their face.

Miller said the project is all about showcasing the positive side of Charlottesville.

“I think this is a better and truer side of Charlottesville,” said Miller. “Being a figurative sculptor, I think this is a way I can use the history of sculpture and the medium of figurative sculpture to talk about Charlottesville and how it should be talked about.”

Miller’s gallery will be on display at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative until Nov. 14.
