Public Artist is an annual artist-in-residence program at The Bridge that pairs creative thinkers (artists, designers, architects, musicians, poets, chefs, theatre practitioners) with local residents and organizations to activate new economic, social and cultural opportunities throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
Through this program, The Bridge makes a significant financial, logistic, and organizational investment in an artist it believes can have a major impact on the City of Charlottesville. Over the year the artist is then tasked with creating a work of art that directly connects to the community through its production and presentation.
Selections for this program are made through a highly selective process that is made by local arts leaders.
