AIA Lunch and Learn: Optimal Insulation: Materials, Resiliency, Total Costs
October 29, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Our local chapter of The American Institute of Architects leads a monthly brown-bag discussion that is open to the public.
This will be our Last Lunch and Learn for the 2015 year. We are thrilled to have Andrew Grigsby, Executive Director of the LEAP program come to speak to our chapter on the topic of insulation and energy efficiency in homes.
Optimal Insulation: Materials, Resiliency, Total Costs
There are many options for insulating buildings today. Price varies greatly. Some methods are part of completely different wall/floor/overhead systems. Goals of first costs, operating costs, durability and more all compete when choosing a building envelope system. And that system should be consciously integrated into a holistic plan for the building’s design, operations, and interaction with its environment.
This discussion will touch on physics, design options, and different insulation materials and will focus on helping attendees make the best decision when choosing an insulation strategy for a particular job. The presenter also will introduce participants to the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) and to the various programs and services it offers.
12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. 209 Monticello Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22902
Soft drinks and water will be provided.
