Film Screening “Ashimas of Charlottesville”

In 1968, Ashima, a young bride follows her husband to America. Setting foot in a new country for the first time, she finds herself confused and intimidated by the new life she will have to learn to lead. In today’s world, while things may be easier for these young bridges, some of the thoughts and apprehensions that they may have internally continue to be the same.

Join filmmaker Madhavi Reddi in the screening of her documentary film – about the experiences of women who have immigrated straight from India to the Charlottesville community. The film will be followed by a Q&A session with some of the women featured in the film.
