An enduring strain of both experimental and underground film and queer culture for much of the 20th Century, Camp has proven an outlandish vocabulary to define and redefine identity in a universe of representation. From intentionally schlocky to sincere irony, camp creates a shadow play of intention and humor with a healthy dose of shock. Camp will bounce from the lo-fi weirdos like the Kuchar Brothers to High Camp of Warhol’s superstars and contemporary articulations by Guy Maddin, Anna Billar, and Miranda July.
