CBS19: Face to Face exhibit set to open

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) — An art display that aims to highlight the diversity of the Charlottesville area community will be opening on Friday.

The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative says the Face to Face: Portraits of Our Vibrant City exhibition will be open all this month.

It pairs artists and community members in order to foster interpersonal relationships among the people of the city to open discussions about equity, value and perception.

The Bridge commissions area artists and pairs them with community members who will sit for a portrait that will be informed by the community member’s personal experience and life.

These pairings are among people who may not otherwise meet.

The artists then give the portrait to its subject.

The portraits will be on display in the Bridge’s Belmont gallery’s windows.
