The Arts Incubator is a cross between a salon and a support group. The Incubator is a community of artists and designers who meet monthly to talk about ideas, support each other, learn new skills, and occasionally share a meal. Programs include open critiques, Pecha Kucha nights, creative collisions, skill sharing, and live or streamed lectures. The Incubator is open to all and creates programming based on needs identified by the group.
Public Artists focuses on pairing creative thinkers (artists, designers, architects, musicians, poets, chefs, theatre practitioners) with local residents and organizations to activate new economic, social and cultural possibilities throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The artist-in-residence will be situated in neighborhoods, working out of a mobile studio. There they will develop a project with residents and a specific partnering organizations that creates new ideas, spaces, and modes of collaboration to the community.
PAUSElab is an ongoing education initiative at The Bridge PAI that uses the arts, research, and civic engagement to actively explore pertinent community issues in the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The program accomplishes this by connecting an artist/educator team with local residents to learn specific design/arts techniques, investigate relevant local and global issues, and express the findings in a public forum through multiple media.
